Barbara Beck is a photographer based in the rural foothills of San Diego County, working across historical photographic and material-based processes. Her work centers on memory, family narrative, and the presence of time in our lives. She frequently works in cyanotype and platinum-palladium processes, often incorporating botanical and coastal elements. She extends the image with stitching, hand coloring, textiles, and encaustic wax, creating dimensional, hand-worked pieces.
Her recent projects have evolved into a personal visual language that transforms photographs into layered forms. Through her revision of the original, the images echo the way memory is created, altered, and shaped over time.
Drawing on personal history, she considers how experience is carried forward through the objects we keep and the stories we inherit. Rooted in lived experience, her practice creates space for inward reflection.
Barbara's photography is in private collections in the United States and internationally. Her art is shown at North Coastal Art League and The Photographer's Eye Collective. Barbara is a founding member of True North Photo Society.
Her photographs are available in a variety of print sizes and can be purchased as a print, gallery mounted, or framed. Images are available on a variety of substrates, such as canvas, acrylic, and metal surfaces. Images have sufficient resolution for enlargement, suited to corporate and commercial spaces.
